Ironical Comment: In the fight for Germany's Federal President, Merkel 'showed her boobs' - but Roesler 'put down his boxers for double play with red-green'

The young, but allegedly 'over-worked' liberal leader with 3 functions - F.D.P. federal chairman, Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economics, named Philipp Roesler (almost 39 y/o), made a crucial move toward the left of center SocialDems of 'Arch Angel' Sigmar Gabriel and Greens' tandem of Kuenast-Trittin in terms of supporting Joachim Gauck (72), (former) Lutheran pastor of Mecklenburg- W Pomerania and former first Stasi Archives' Commissioner (after reunification) without any party affiliation, for Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Roesler's playing blackjack with 17 on hand couldn't be countered by Merkel, else she would have lost the liberals for a possible traffic-light coalition of SocialDems (Red) - FreeDems (yellow) and  Eco-Greens. And, it was for the now 'angry' CDU/CSU like passing on the right lane which is, btw, forbidden on German autobahns.

Taking the first move in this political blackjack was a boon for Roesler and his troops who are now on the political playing field again, two state elections ahead in Saarland (March) and Schleswig-Holstein (May).

Getting five percent is minimum goal for the F.D.P., else they would be ousted for the next 4 to 5 years in state assembly's representation.

Same would apply for them in early elections nationwide.

But I doubt that Merkel is risk-playing now. Knowing that the F.D.P. would scatch any mud together in case of a ConLib break-up, she will fear losing her power like the devil is afraid of holy water.

Having gotten Roesler's lesson, she now knows that the F.D.P., when cornered, is able to successfully retaliate in order to just survive.

Being pissed off doesn't help the CDU/CSU in the long run, the yellow liberal 'boy group' has shown what's beneath their boxers.

Well done, F.D.P. guys, and, btw, a courageous move!

    good question,

well on German autobahns, mostly 2 lanes in each directions, sometimes 3 to 4 lanes in regions of a lot of traffic, you are supposed to drive on the right lane, the fast lane is 'reserved' for faster vehicles.

Well, on the other hand, there are also 'traffic educators' here who think that 120 kph (72 mph) is enough, and they try 'to enforce' this by staying on the fast lane (left).

In this case, a lot of faster vehicles, indeed, pass on the right lane which is forbidden - state police will ticket the slow poke and the driver who passes wrongly.

Guess, who gets the 'higher value' ticket, well, the guy who overtook on the 'slow' lane (right).

I can fully understand your point!
